Rockland and Orange Assemblyman James Skoufis voted for the gun control bills. That bill would allow an immediate family member or law enforcement to ask a judge to prevent someone believed to be a threat from purchasing or possessing a firearm. Earlier this week, Republicans in the Senate approved bills that focus on school safety. They include state funding for armed police in schools and other security upgrades, but didn’t address the gun control issue. The Assembly bills did not specifically involve school security.
