Train Taps Car Stuck on Crossing in Nanuet

A driver stuck in traffic on railroad tracks in Nanuet got out before an oncoming train struck her car yesterday afternoon. The incident occurred around 1:30 on New Clarkstown Road. Clarkstown Police say a New Jersey Transit train headed for Spring Valley was able to come to a stop but not before the train tapped the car, causing some damage to both the train and car, but no injuries. Clarkstown Police remind motorists never sit on the tracks, even if a train isn’t approaching at that moment.
