Actor Chevy Chase Involved in Rockland Road Rage Incident

When your name is “Chevy Chase” you’re bound to be in an article that has to do with driving. The Bedford resident and former “Saturday Night Live” and movie star best known for “Caddyshack” and the “Vacation” series, was reportedly cut off in traffic on the Tappan Zee Bridge earlier this month and got into a road rage fight with the driver of a truck. Entertainment gossip site TMZ said the 74 year-old Chase thought his car was hit by the truck, so he chased the driver down and confronted him about his “reckless driving.” After he was reportedly on the receiving end of a common hand gesture by one of the truck’s passengers, Chase allegedly said “If I were a lot younger, I’d bust your nose.” According to the police report, one of the truck’s passengers, 22 year-old Michael Landrio of East Patchogue, Long Island, got out, kicked Chase and knocked him to the ground, though the truck driver claimed Chase threw a punch first. The driver of a third car saw the confrontation, pulled over, and said he intervened because he, quote, “didn’t want to see an old man get his ass stomped.” Landrio was charged with second-degree harassment. He was released and is due back in South Nyack Court March 5th.
