The Cold War Veteran Tax Exemption law was about to expire but a new state law gives local towns the ability to extend the tax exemption indefinitely. Qualifying veterans must have served for a minimum of a year between September 2, 1945 and December 26, 1991. The town also increased the Alternative Veterans Exemption that’s available on a veteran’s primary residence. For more information contact the assessor’s office at 845-357-5100 x254.
