Clarkstown to Use Pipeline Money to Fund School Purchase

The town of Clarkstown is using the money it gets from the Champlain Hudson Power Express power line to help fund the purchase of the Rockland Country Day School. The power line will cut through parts of Rockland to deliver Canadian hydroelectric power to Queens in a few years. Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann told “The Morning Show” yesterday the 3-point-9 million dollars the town is getting is more than he thought he’d get for a mile-and-a-half’s worth of Route 9W in town that will be used for the pipeline…

The Clarkstown acquisition of the Rockland Country Day School property still needs to go through an environmental review and some other hurdles before it’s a done deal. Hoehmann expects to close on the property in May. Once the Public Service Commission gives the pipeline the final approval, construction could begin next year.
