Orangetown Takes Wait-and-See Strategy as Stony Point Looks to Bring Waste-to-Fuel Facility to Town

A potentially large ratable for the town of Stony Point continues to slowly make its way through the approval process. But so far, Orangetown’s new supervisor isn’t as concerned about the proposed “waste-to-fuel” facility as his predecessor was. Andy Stewart had expressed concern that the plant slated for Stony Point would increase truck traffic on Route 9W through Orangetown. Supervisor Chris Day told “The Morning Show” last week regardless of what Stony Point does, Orangetown couldn’t place any traffic restrictions on Route 9W since it’s a state road…

Stony Point supervisor Jim Monaghan hopes if the plant is approved, it’ll provide his town enough revenue to build a new library and offer full-day kindergarten to every student in North Rockland.
