Rockland Launches “Tip411” Service for Social Media, Text Tip Line

Got a crime tip but you don’t feel like making a phone call or going to the police station in person? Rockland’s District Attorney and area police chiefs Tuesday launched “Tip411,” a new text- and social media-based tip line. So, if you have a smartphone, tablet, cell phone or computer you can anonymously text a tip to your local police department. The “RocklandCoDA” app is a free download available in the Google Play Store, iTunes App Store, or at the D-A’s website through RocklandGov.com. D-A Tom Zugibie says messages can be responded to in real time, for an instant two-way live “chat.” Users can also send photos and videos to help aid in investigations.
