No End-Date for Orangeburg Road Overpass Project, Though End is Near, Almost Two Years Later

The Orangeburg Road overpass re-construction project that’s taken nearly two years so far still does not have a firm end date, though it could be soon. Orangetown Supervisor Chris Day told “The Morning Show” yesterday that the project has been slowing traffic on the busy roadway in the heart of town between Route 303 and Western Highway. Day says it’s taking longer than expected due to the number of agencies involved in the work, and the CSX train that goes directly underneath it…

The closed stretch of rail-trail that goes underneath Orangeburg Road, connecting Mountainview Avenue to South Greenbush Road, opened just a few weeks before the project began. It will remain closed until the project is complete. Day says one positive aspect surrounding the project: the area hasn’t seen any uptick in traffic accidents due to the construction.
