A Spring Valley man is facing a long list of charges in Orange County after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop, crashing his car and causing injury to a state trooper in the process. 29-year-old Chaim Surkis was stopped on I-87 in Tuxedo around 10:30pm on January 13th. While he was being interviewed by the trooper, Surkis allegedly took off. He crashed, and a brief struggle ensued when the trooper attempted to arrest him. Surkis was taken into custody and brought to a local hospital for evaluation. Surkis was processed Monday at state police headquarters in Tarrytown and charged with second degree assault, reckless driving, resisting arrest, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, and criminal mischief.
