NYS Labor Department: Unemployment in Rockland Rises

The unemployment rate in the lower Hudson Valley increased in the past year. That’s according to the State Labor Department’s most recent report. In Rockland, from November 2016 to November 2017, the unemployment rate increased from 4 percent to 4.5 percent. In Orange, the unemployment rate increased half a percent to 4.6 percent, and in Westchester, the unemployment rate did the same, going up half a percent to 4.6 percent. Overall, according to the State Labor Department, the state’s private sector job count increased by 109,300 from Nov. 2016 to Nov. 2017.
