Rockland Towns to Accept Early Tax Payments; Westchester Towns, No Can Do

All five towns in Rockland will accept pre-payments on residents’ 2018 property taxes. The movement comes in the wake of the Tax Bill that was passed last week and signed by President Trump. All five towns will be accepting prepayment of the 2018 town and county taxes this week. Westchester residents, however, will not have the same opportunity. Outgoing County Executive ​Rob Astorino said yesterday they’re unable to provide the required documents in time. The prepayment of 2018 property taxes will let homeowners claim the full deduction of local taxes on their 2017 income taxes which, under the new law, limits the deduction for state and local taxes to $10,000 next year.
