Tax Bill Passes Senate; Heads to House (Again) and then on to the President

Though the House initially passed the controversial $1.5 trillion tax bill Tuesday, a new, final vote is now expected later today. The Senate’s adviser on parliamentary procedures declared provisions in the bill violated the rules governing the legislation. Congresswoman Nita Lowey initially voted against the bill, which had passed the House, and said the need for the re-vote proved it was a “shoddy bill” and a “shoddy process.” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said “Republicans will rue the day they passed this bill”…

The Senate, meanwhile passed the bill early this morning by a party-line 51-48 vote. After the re-vote in the House, the bill is expected to head to the President’s desk in the coming days for his signature.
