CSL Pre-sentence Hearing Continues Monday

Former Ramapo Supervisor Chris St. Lawrence could find out his fate Monday when he’s in court for the continuation of a pre-sentencing hearing that began late last month. Investor losses were revised downward from an early estimate of about 5.8 million dollars to about one million dollars. The hearing could impact what the judge eventually hands down as a sentence. The judge also indicated she will be considering the many letters she has received from residents about the case. St. Lawrence’s attorneys are looking for a sentence of probation, while prosecutors are asking for up to 14 years in prison. St. Lawrence was found guilty last May on 20 counts of fraud and conspiracy. If Monday’s testimony wraps up early enough, the sentencing could get underway later that day.
