One Arrested After Two Bomb Threats at East Ramapo High Schools

Ramapo police arrested a Spring Valley teen Friday for Falsely Reporting an Incident and Making a Terroristic Threat, both felonies. Lieutenant Robert Lancia said they got a 911 call around 10:30 Friday morning claiming there was a bomb at the Ramapo High School. Ramapo Police, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Bomb Unit, Monsey Fire Department, Spring Hill Ambulance and Rockland Paramedics all responded. The Bomb Unit searched the school and found nothing. An investigation led police to 17 year-old Glen Tyrese Edwards. Detective Sergeant Brian Corbett said Edwards was arraigned in New Hempstead Justice Court and sent to the County Jail on $2,500 bail. That incident followed an earlier scare at Spring Valley High School. Students were evacuated after a threat was found written on a classroom wall around 7am. Students were let back in to school around two hours later, after bomb-sniffing dogs scanned the school. No arrests were made in that case.
