HEAP Program Available to Help Pay Winter Heating Bills

Low-income families in Rockland County are encouraged to take advantage of a state grant program to help pay their heating bills this winter. Rockland’s County Executive Ed Day says the Home Energy Assistance Program, or “HEAP,” can help those who need assistance…

The amount of the benefit depends on income and family size. For example, a single-person household must have a monthly gross income no higher than $2,318, while the monthly income limit for a family of five is $5,170. New HEAP applicants will be seen by appointment only. To make an appointment, call the Department of Social Services at 845-364-3480, Monday through Friday between 8 and 5 pm.
