Clarkstown Buys Church Land to Preserve as Green Space

The Town of Clarkstown is buying just over four acres of land owned by St. Peter’s Syro-Malankara Catholic Church to preserve open space, prevent a negative impact on neighbors and protect wetlands. The deal will cost the town $235,000, and instead of an 11-thousand square-foot building and 55-space parking lot they’ll develop nature trails that connect to the Long Path and integrate into Mountainview Nature Park.
