Heavy politics and rhetoric has been toned down in the county executive race as Ed Day mourns the loss of his mother. Jane Day died over the weekend at the age of 89. According to her obituary, Mrs. Day was Frank Sinatra’s greatest fan, interested in nutrition and politics, and a first cousin to legendary football coach Vince Lombardi of the Green Bay Packers. A Service will be held at Matthew Funeral Home on Staten Island Wednesday at 7:30. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 3 to 8 PM. Committal is private. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her name to the Stephen Siller “Tunnel to Towers” Foundation.
