ATV-Car Crash Closes Route 17 in Sloatsburg Saturday

Route 17 in Sloatsburg was closed for several hours Saturday night after a crash involving a car and an ATV. Ramapo police lieutenant Kevin Lee says a 51-year-old Sloatsburg man suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash in the area of the Sunnyside Restaurant. Both the ATV and the car were reportedly traveling northbound in the left lane when they collided. The ATV driver suffered serious head injuries and was treated at the scene by Rockland paramedics and a doctor who happened to be on his way to Tuxedo. The man was taken by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center. The driver and passenger of the car were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for observation. The crash remains under investigation.
