Brinks Memorial to be Held in Nyack Friday

As they have done for the last 35 years, Rockland’s First Responders will be gathering at the entrance to the New York State Thruway in Nyack to mark the anniversary of the Brinks robbery at the Nanuet National Bank at the old Nanuet Mall. Sergeant Edward O’Grady, Officer Waverly “Chipper” Brown, and guard Peter Paige were killed back in 1981 when self-proclaimed revolutionaries stole around 1.8 million dollars and led police on a wild chase. Sheriff Lou Falco says two other members of the Rockland police community will also be honored at the service…

The memorial begins at 4pm Friday. The hour-long ceremony will feature a wreath-laying, a rifle salute, pipe and drums, and a police honor guard.
