Road Closures to Come to South Nyack for TZB Demolition

Get ready for some local road closures in and around the Tappan Zee Bridge construction zone starting next week, as all traffic will be moved from the old span to the new one – weeks earlier than originally planned. Westchester-bound traffic will shift from the current Tappan Zee Bridge to the new one. Work to accomplish that will begin tonight and should finish Saturday morning, so all traffic, westbound and eastbound, will be on the first span of the new bridge. A portion of River Road in South Nyack will be closed starting Tuesday to make room for the demolition of the existing Tappan Zee Bridge. The road will be closed entirely during that time period, but work will be limited to between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. That portion of the project will continue into November. Cyclists that often use River Road will also need to follow the detours.
