Proposed 2018 Rockland Budget Includes Funds for New Shelter at Hi Tor

One of the projects in the County Executive’s proposed $684 million budget includes $1.2 million in funds for a new animal shelter on the county-owned land where Hi-Tor Animal Care Center is currently located in Pomona. Former Hi Tor president Roberta Bangs said the money from the proposed budget plus a nearly a-half-million-dollar grant Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski got and some other funds they have is a great start for creating a new shelter…

Under the plan the county would take the lead in building the new shelter and each of the five towns and the Village of Spring Valley would help with the operating costs. The legislature still needs to review the budget and will do so over the next few months.
