Clarkstown’s Police Chief Fired by Town Board in 3-2 Party-line Vote

Clarkstown’s embattled police chief has been fired by the town board. The Journal News reports the board voted 3-2 along party lines last night to dismiss Michael Sullivan after a hearing officer found him guilty of disciplinary charges made against him last summer. The town’s two Democrats on the board, Daniel Caprara and Stephanie Hausner, voted against firing Sullivan. The Republican majority — Council members Frank Borelli and John Noto and supervisor George Hoehmann — voted to get rid of him, amid debates as to whether Hoehmann was allowed to vote. Sullivan has called the case a political witch-hunt and remains in the race to unseat Hoehmann as supervisor.
