A controversial Canadian energy project that cuts through Rockland has drawn concerns from the head of the Rockland Business Association and the County Executive. Known as the Champlain Hudson Power Express from Transmission Developers, the project runs a 333-mile cable to bring power from Canada to New York City. The $2.2 billion project still needs a few approvals before it gets the green light. Transmission lines will be installed under Lake Champlain and the Hudson River, with the lines slated to come ashore in Stony Point and run south underneath Route 9W and then go back under the Hudson north of Rockland Lake State Park.
