200 Hasidic men protested a local cell phone retailer for selling smart phones to young Hasidic men despite religious objections. Ping Cellular in Monsey’s Town Square Mall on Route 59 is owned and managed by Orthodox Jews. Protestors object to the store’s defiance of their rabbis’ ban against Internet-enabled phones. The store’s manager told The Journal News that the protesters had the right to protest, but that his store suggests a community-based organization could install Internet filters for free.
