Fort Lee Traffic Jam Participant to be Sentenced Today

David Wildstein , the former Port Authority executive who admitted to plotting the scandal that hobbled New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s political career, is expected to be sentenced today for his role in what became known as Bridgegate. Speculation is Wildstein could avoid prison time, as federal prosecutors are recommending the judge in the case go easy on him for his cooperation in the case. He testified against former Port Authority executive Bill Baroni and Christie’s deputy chief of staff Bridget-Anne Kelly, in connection with “traffic jam” intended to punish Fort Lee’s mayor for not supporting the governor’s re-election bid in 2013. Baroni and Kelly were both found guilty of fraud and conspiracy last year and are appealing their convictions.
