Fatal Car Crash in New City

(Updated) 69 year-old Neil Block and 68 year-old Aline Block were killed last night after a two-car crash in New City and a 23 year-old Nanuet man has been arrested and charged with their deaths. Clarkstown police officer Peter Walker said the accident occurred at the intersection of Route 304 and Goebel Road where police found a Toyota Camry and a Lincoln MKV, both with extensive damage. The Lincoln was reportedly driven by 23 year-old Matthew Sindone of Nanuet, an unlicensed driver who ran a red light on 304 and crashed into the Camry. Sindone was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter, criminal possession of a controlled substance, operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs and other charges. Police needed the “Jaws of Life” to remove the victims from the Camry. Sindone was treated for minor injuries at Nyack Hospital and arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court. Bail was set at $750,000 and he was taken to the county jail on $750,000. He will be back in court on Friday at 9:30 a.m.
