First Rockland County Shared Services Hearing Held

(Audio) The first public hearing of the Rockland County-wide Shared Services Initiative Panel was held last night in Thiells. Orangetown Supervisor Andy Stewart was a guest on the Morning Show yesterday and gave an example of a current shared service in the county. Stewart said not every local police department needs its own bomb-sniffing dog, so they look to the Sheriff’s department to provide that, or other services, as needed…

Stewart said even small ideas can be helpful. A second public hearing where Rocklanders can share their ideas to make government more efficient and save taxpayer dollars will be held on May 24th at RCC. A third is scheduled for June 8th at Dominican College. The Shared Services Initiative is a statewide requirement that was included in the state budget passed last month. A shared services plan has to be presented to the County Legislature by August 1st.
