Orange County Police Chief Recovering after Being Shot in Shoulder

New York State police say an Orange County chief of police is recovering after being shot and a 28 year-old man is dead following an alleged domestic disturbance in the village of Maybrook. Local, county, and state police spent hours in a standoff with Anthony Bostick, who barricaded himself in an apartment. Officials can’t confirm if he committed suicide or if he was killed by police. Also unclear is the origin of the domestic disturbance call. Arnold “Butch” Amthor, the chief of the Montgomery and Maybrook police, was shot in the shoulder during the incident Tuesday morning and is expected to fully recover. The incident is under investigation.
