Day 17: Closing Arguments in CSL Case

In a two-and-a-half hour closing argument, the prosecution said Ramapo supervisor Chris St. Lawrence “lied and schemed” and “created fake revenues” so the town’s local development corporation could make its payments on the Boulders baseball stadium, the construction of which started even before the supervisor had any money to do it. That’s according to The Journal News, as day 17 of the trial was held at U.S. District court in White Plains. During the defense’s closing argument, St. Lawrence’s attorney told the jury all the banks and the contractors have been paid, there was no intent to deceive anyone, and the supervisor did not personally profit in any way. Closing arguments should wrap up today, and the jury could shortly thereafter start deliberations. St. Lawrence faces 22 counts of fraud and conspiracy, and other charges.
