Bergen County Plane Crash Kills Two

Two unidentified crew members were killed after a small plane crashed a quarter mile away from Bergen County’s Teterboro Airport. The Learjet 35 departed Philadelphia International Airport for Teterboro at 3:04 p.m. yesterday. The FAA said the flight went down around 3:30 p.m., on approach to Teterboro’s Runway One. The plane crashed into a building in an industrial area, according to a spokesman for the town of Carlstadt. No one in the building was harmed, most of the employees there had already left. Emergency responders reached the scene a short time after the crash to extinguish fires that touched nearby buildings and cars. Teterboro was closed and flight operations cancelled following the crash. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
