Police are warning of a new round of telephone scams designed to separate you from your money. In some cases, callers will impersonate IRS officials and threaten jail time unless you provide account numbers for gift cards. Police say the IRS always communicates via U.S. Postal Service. If you get a call like that, just hang up or ask for a name and number and then call the police.
