Former SNLer Drops Out of NJ Gov Race

Well, he teased us for a little while, but former “Saturday Night Live” funnyman Joe Piscopo has officially taken his hat out of the New Jersey gubernatorial ring. He’s endorsed Republican frontrunner, Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno. Governor Chris Christie is leaving office after two terms. Other Republicans looking to become the next governor include Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli of Somerset County, Nutley Commissioner Steve Rogers, businessman Joe Rullo and engineer Hirsh Singh. Former U.S. Ambassador Phil Murphy is viewed as the Democratic frontrunner. Both parties will be holding primaries in early June. Other Democrats in the race include former Clinton administration Treasury official Jim Johnson, state Senator Ray Lesniak, Tenafly councilman Mark Zinna, and Assemblyman John Wisniewski from Middlesex County.
