County Officials Meet to Discuss Shared Services Plan

(Audio clip) Rockland’s County Executive and scores of county departments and agencies will be meeting tomorrow to figure out how to respond to the new state-required shared services plan that was included in the new state budget. Local leaders across the state are concerned about the plan, which requires counties to come up with a strategy to consolidate services with local governments in order to cut property taxes. Plans from all county governments outside New York City must be developed and submitted by August first. After a plan is submitted, the counties will hold a series of public hearings before a full plan is officially presented in mid-October.
