Multiple Dwelling Rental Registry Goes into Effect This Week

On Wednesday, the County Executive announced that the countywide Multiple Dwelling Rental registry officially went into effect. The registry is the fourth part of the Rockland Codes Initiative, which requires owners of dwellings with three or more units to register online with the Rockland Department of Health and to provide a certificate of occupancy. Landlords will also have to pay $25 per unit to register with the necessary paperwork. The four parts to the codes initiative are; increased enforcement of the county sanitary code, a website where people can report unsafe housing, a list of Rockland’s worst landlords, and the Multiple Dwelling Registry.   (Source: Press Release)
