New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has proposed a package of voting reforms in the Legislature to increase voter registrations and encourage more New Yorkers to go to the polls. However, changing voting laws would only fix part of the problem. Low voter turnout can be attributed to various issues such as voting restrictions and 1 in 4 candidates running unopposed.
