A fire ripped through the Alexander Smith Carpet Factory in Yonkers this morning. The fire was first reported around 4 a.m. this morning and saw every firefighter in the city respond. First responders were able to contain the blaze; however authorities are directing commuters away from the area. The building is now home to the YOHO artist’s community and houses artists’ lofts and businesses. At this time, no one was believed to be in the building during the fire. (Source: LoHud)
