Residents of Ba Mar Can Choose Whether to Stay or Leave Flood-Prone Area

Residents of the Ba Mar mobile-home park filled the Stony Point Center on Thursday to find out whether or not they would have to vacate their flood-prone living area. It’s been more than four years since Superstorm Sandy, but for the last 4 years, residents were kept in limbo as to whether or not they would be forced to relocate. NY Rising offered three different programs to residents, all of which have a maximum payment of 125,000 dollars. However, those who decide to stay on the property face higher insurance costs because they live in a flood-prone area.   (Source: Lohud)
