Sheriff’s Union and Legislature Settle on New Contract

The Rockland County Legislature and the Sheriff’s Deputies Association have settled upon a new contract after years of negotiating. The contract, which will increase the Deputies’ salaries for the first time since 2011, was ratified by the Legislature last week and now faces County Executive Ed Day’s decision. The County Executive and the Democrat controlled Legislature have been disagreeing on the budgeting of the resolution. Day has 21 days to make a decision on the Sheriff’s Union contract; if the contract is vetoed, the union could go to arbitration which would potentially cost the county more money. (Source: LoHud)
