Fire in Harriman State Park and Westchester Barn

Two fires broke out over the weekend. Sunday afternoon a fire broke out at Harriman State Park burning over 5 acres near Route 202 at Wilder Road. It was first reported on Facebook at approximately 6:oo p.m. Harriman is a state park and no Rockland county fire departments were requested. Park rangers, according to sources, were tending to the fire. And in Westchester County, the Journal News is reporting that a fast-moving fire started in a garage and spread to a nearby barn keeping firefighters working hard. Croton Falls firefighters battled the blaze near 40 Hardscrabble Road, just east of Interstate 684 just before 2 p.m. The property is across the street from Hardscrabble Farms, a wholesale nursery, and down the road from Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard and Outhouse Orchards. There were no fire hydrants in the area, water was trucked to the fire. There were no reported injuries. (Source: Journal News)
