Westchester’s Borgia Wants to Slow Astorino Airport Deal

On Thursday, Westchester County executive Rob Astorino announced he has a deal with a new operator, Oaktree Capital Management, to run the Westchester Airport for the next 40 years under a revenue-sharing lease. Mid Hudson News is reporting this morning that “the Democratic Majority Leader of the Westchester County Board of Legislators, Catherine Borgia, has announced that she does not want to rush into any plan that would change the private operators of the county airport until it has been properly vetted by the legislature. She stated, “We are not going to be forced into doing a hasty review of something that is so important, a significant asset that is owned by the people of Westchester and I personally feel very, very strongly, and if the administration doesn’t agree with this, I am going to do this on my own, which is we also need to give the public an opportunity to weigh in on whether or not they feel this is a good deal for Westchester County.”
