Federal investigators are saying that the New Jersey Transit train was going twice the speed limit when it crashed into the Hoboken terminal last week. Investigators have also found out that the emergency brake was activated less than a second before the impact of the crash. These new findings were discovered via the data recorders that were aboard the train. (Source: LoHud)

An Eastchester man has pleaded guilty in a wrong-way fatal crash that killed Elena Lopez and seriously injured another last December. 24-year-old Zachary Tokson was driving drunk the night he drove on the wrong side of I-684. Police found Tokson with an empty bottle of whisky, a mixed drink in a soda bottle, and a B.A.C. over .08. Tokson is out on bail at this time and is scheduled for sentencing on January 12th; He faces 8 to 25 years in state prison. (Source: LoHud)

Voters in Valhalla approved their district’s bond proposal with a final tally of 373 in favor of the bond and 192 against it. Valhalla plans to use the money to renovate facilities including improved classrooms, a new playground, and a new roof. Rye Neck also held their district bond proposal vote last night, however their proposal fell 17 votes shy of passing. (Source: LoHud)

In national sports news, the Arizona Cardinals beat the San Francisco 49ers 33-21 on Thursday Night Football. And in baseball news, the Indians edged the Red Sox 5-4, while the Blue Jays crushed the Rangers 10-1; Both the Indians and the Blue Jays took game 1 of their respective series’.
