FDNY Battalion Chief Michael Fahy Killed in Line of Duty

Early Tuesday morning, Rockland County native and 17-year veteran FDNY Battalion Chief Michael Fahy was killed while leading responders of a suspected gas leak at West 234th Street and Tibbett Avenue in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx. A house exploded and falling debris injured over 20 people – firefighters, police officers, and killing Fahy. According to officials the house was under investigation as a marijuana “grow house”. A “person of interest” has been taken into custody for questioning. Chief Fahy was a graduate of North Rockland High School, his father, Thomas Fahy, who also served as a department chief lives in North Rockland, and his sister teaches in the county.
