Yesterday morning at approximately 7 a.m., 49-year-old Hengjun Chao, was arrested for shooting and injuring two men at Lange’s Little Store & Delicatessen in Chappaqua. One of the injured was Dr. Dennis Charney, the dean of the Ichan School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, according to a statement by Mount Sinai. In 2010, Chao an assistant professor under Charney was terminated for cause from his position. Chao had filed and lost a wrongful termination suit in 2012. Chao is being held at Westchester County jail until his next court date September 7. Charney and the second, unidentified victim, were treated for their injuries and released.
