Forman, Hughes RCHD Arrested on Drug Trafficking

56-year-old, Bernard Hughes III, of West Nyack and a veteran foreman at the Rockland County Highway Department has been arrested and accused of involvement in a Rockland drug ring. Hughes is accused of trafficking powder and crack cocaine during work hours while driving a county vehicle. District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe said in an announcement that the arrest is part of the August 9 federal indictment against 11 people trafficking drugs led by Jemel Goode of Congers. Zugibe said, “In the course of that federal investigation, it was discovered that Hughes was involved with Goode’s cocaine network.” Hughes faces one count of Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree, a class “D” Felony. If convicted he faces up to seven years in state prison.
