Lightning Strikes Kill 3, Injures 4

As the storms continue to raise havoc New Yorkers are urged to exercise caution during severe thunder and lightning storms. In addition to excessive heat warnings over the past weekend, the National Weather Service says storms will likely produce heavy rainfall, gusty winds and lightning. Last week, lightning strikes resulted in three deaths and four injuries. On Wednesday, two individuals were killed in Genesee County after being struck by lightning, and on Friday, lightning killed one individual and severely injured four people in Westchester County. The Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services says lightning kills more people in this country each year than tornadoes. Storms move quickly and arrive without warning.
