Hearing Officer Appointed in Sullivan Case

Over 100 supporters of suspended Clarkstown Police Chief Michael Sullivan packed the hall wearing blue at last night’s Town Board meeting. On the agenda, White Plains litigation Attorney William Harrington, was appointed special prosecutor and hearing officer former state Attorney General Dennis Vacco, was officially appointed in the Sullivan case. In response to Rockland District Attorney’s Office discontinuing email communication with the Clarkstown police, once it learned the Town Board had accessed the information, Town Supervisor George Hoehmann had strong words, “The DA is fully aware we took steps to secure our network based on the Department of Justice and FBI subpoenas that were served on the Town of Clarkstown to produce documents that the previous administration had failed to comply with and attempted to destroy.” In a statement Tuesday DA Thomas Zugibe said, “What I will not tolerate is the blatant misrepresentations that the town accessed the emails to comply with a federal grand jury subpoena,” he added, “That is categorically false. The subpoena referenced by the supervisor resulted from the work of the Public Corruption Task Force that operates out of my office. It does not compel the production of any records whatsoever from the town of Clarkstown Police Department.”
