Rockland DA Halts Email with Clarkstown PD

Email communication between the Rockland District Attorney’s office and the Clarkstown Police Department has been discontinued in an unprecedented action and response to allegations that town officials are accessing Clarkstown police emails. Spring Valley police chief Paul Modica and Ramapo Chief Brad Weidel also discontinued emails with the Clarkstown police when they learned of the directive. Law enforcement officials claim they learned of the town’s access to police emails in the July 22 lawsuit filed by police Sgt. Stephen Cole-Hatcher just two days after Clarkstown Chief of Police Michael Sullivan was suspended. Zugibe said that it’s “a big issue if you have unvetted civilians with access to that information.” Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann said on WRCR this morning that he was surprised by the District Attorney’s actions. Hoehmann said, “The town of Clarkstown complied with a Federal Subpoena from 2015” and he will be talking with Zugibe today. For now, according to police chief Modica they will be using “face to face”.
