WCC Mushatt Indicted for Forging Transcripts

43-year-old Tyrone Mushatt, former basketball coach of Westchester Community College, was indicted Thursday for allegedly forging and supplying false academic transcripts to earn star players NCAA Division 1 Scholarships. Investigators say he helped approximately eight players to transfer to Division 1 and other four-year schools. Inspector General Catherine Leahy Scott said in a statement that Mushatt’s “repeated abuse of his authority violated the trust instilled in his position and undermined students who work hard, both academically and athletically, to achieve their dreams.” The scandal caused WCC to cancel the two past men’s seasons and most recently the women’s season. So far, Mushatt is the only one named in the indictment however he claims he did not act alone.
