Sullivan Formally Answers Charges

Richard Glickel, the attorney for suspended Clarkstown Chief of Police Michael Sullivan, sent a letter to Town Supervisor George Hoehmann responding to each charge brought against Sullivan. In the letter Glickel states, “Chief Michael Sullivan denies each and every specification” and then he goes on to discredit seven charges of misconduct and incompetence. The charges are linked to an order given by Hoehmann and a refusal by Sullivan to immediately reassign Sgt. Stephen Cole-Hatchard from the Rockland County Strategic Intelligence Unit to the town detective division; and a comment Sullivan made on social media that the board believes could have hindered a litigation involving a former town police officer. The town has 35 days from the date of suspension to appoint a hearing officer to compile evidence and then make a recommendation to the Town Board.
