Chief Sullivan Makes Statement about Suspension

Last Wednesday, Clarkstown Police Chief Michael Sullivan was suspended. The reason for the suspension was not given. On Friday, Sullivan made a public statement that the reason “will become public when I file my formal response, so that there can be no doubt that the board’s charges are completely without merit.” He added, “Please be assured that there is no evidence of any wrongdoing on my part or any conduct unbecoming an officer.” The town has 35 days to appoint a hearing officer to produce evidence and then make a recommendation to the Town Board that could include a punishment from suspension to dismissal.
